O&E is an Out of Network (OON) provider

What does this mean?

Out-of-Network (OON) providers are not credentialed with any health insurance companies and do not bill directly through insurance.

Why not take insurance?

There are many reasons why therapists may choose to not work with insurance companies, or only work with a select few that meet their own ethical criteria. Some of those reasons include the requirements for pathologizing clients (assigning a diagnosis to get reimbursement), low pay rates that do not reflect the worth of therapists' skills and knowledge, lack of coverage for many real-life concerns, such as grief, and other red-tape scenarios.

So, how do I pay you?

Clients may pay for sessions via credit card, FSA or HSA account, or check made out to Oak & Evergreen Therapy.

What is a Superbill?

Superbills are somewhat like receipts for sessions. They include important information about session dates, times, length, and any applicable diagnoses. Oak & Evergreen is happy to provide superbills to any clients at their request.

Medicare Beneficiaries please note: Due to O&E's status as an opted-out entity, Superbills cannot be provided to those with Medicare, and no claims may be submitted to Medicare by you or your clinician.

So, does that mean I can get reimbursement from my insurance company?

Possibly. This depends on many factors. In order to submit for reimbursement, you would pay us up front for your session and then submit the superbill to your insurance company.

If you are interested in this possibility, we encourage you to call your insurance provider and ask the following:

  • Does my plan include out-of-network benefits? [move on to the next question if they answer is YES]

  • What is my out-of-network deductible for outpatient mental health?

  • What is my out-of-network coinsurance for outpatient mental health?

  • What is the process for submitting a claim for reimbursement?

Please note, reimbursement will likely still depend on a clinical diagnosis, which may or may not apply to you. Ask us more about this in your 15 minute free phone consultation if you have further questions.

Oak & Evergreen Therapy is not responsible for any information related to your personal health insurance plan.
