About the Group:

We’ve all been told a million times how important it is to have the support of colleagues as a therapist. And when we work with a marginalized and misunderstood population, I believe this support and connection is even more essential. Working with non-monogamous clients is beautifully complex, and having colleagues that understood the nuances of these relationships is essential.

I’ve designed this group to hold space for clinicians who really need that support from people who actually “get it” because they’re doing the same work you are. Whether you’re an individual or relationship therapist, personally identify as monogamous or non-monogamous, have been a therapist for 3 months or 3 decades, have had dozens of non-monog clients or just accepted your first one, I believe that you can both give and receive so much here.

If you’ve ever felt:

  • stuck on the particulars of a case, unsure of where to lead your client(s) next

  • nervous about how to navigate serving a group that you also belong to

  • unsure of what to make of competing “advice” or “best practices” on non-monogamy you’ve read or hear about

  • frustrated that other therapists sometimes “don’t get it” or just think your client(s) problems all stem from their relationship structure

  • conflicted about how direct or indirect to be when it comes to ethical concerns in relationships

  • like you just wish you could talk to someone without having to over-explain every facet of non-monogamy just to get some practical advice

Then you are not alone, and this group was created with YOU in mind.

About the Facilitator:

👋🏻 Hi there, I’m Jess!

As a human… I’m a liberal, white, able-bodied, cis-gender, queer-and-polyamorous-identified therapist living and working between Delaware and Maryland.

As a therapist… I specialize in working with polyamorous and other non-monogamous clients, as well as queer folks and anxious people pleasers. I work with individuals, couples, and extended relationships structures and practice from a largely relational framework with all my clients.

It’s important to me that it feels like a good fit to work together. Here are some things about me that might be helpful for you to know as you consider the group.

As a therapist and human, I believe:

  • …that my relationship with my clients is an essential part of our work together.

  • …in bringing myself into the therapy room. I do not believe in being a “blank slate” for my clients. I am a human and feel it’s my responsibility to acknowledge that I bring that human into the therapy room every day, and that matters.

  • …that therapy IS political. I hold deep compassion for each person’s right to choose their own beliefs AND I know that sometimes this means we are not a good fit to work together, and that’s okay.

  • …that humor, laughter, tears, and cursing all have appropriate places in the therapy room, and the consultation room. There are times to ground into seriousness and times to explore joy and connect together in a lighthearted way.

  • If we decide to move forward, you’ll receive a follow-up email with a commitment form and payment link.

  • Then we’ll get to meeting, learning, connecting, and growing together!
